Carnival to fly passengers home after another cruise failure
It appears Déjà Vu has struck Carnival cruise lines once again. This time a ship lost power while docked at Saint Maarten.
Kris Anderson, an anchor for our CBS affiliate WREG in Tennessee, is vacationing with his family on the ship. He said the power is back on, but the ship can't leave its port.
"We just heard from our captain, Maximo Marino. He just made the announcement literally a couple of moments ago and said they've made every attempt to repair the issues with the generators on the ship-- every attempt unsuccessful, unfortunately. So, what they just told us now is their Miami-based crew is scrambling to make charter plane arrangements. They're going to charter a jet and have us flown back to Orlando, actually," he explained.
Carnival will also give passengers a refund equivalent to three days of the voyage and 50 percent off a future cruise.
The Carnival Dream's next voyage, scheduled to depart Sunday, has been canceled.
And, if things couldn't get any worse, 17 people filed a joint lawsuit from the Carnival Triumph disaster that left thousands stranded out at sea for days.
Lately there has been a trend of marriage proposals via movie trailers. Some of them are romantic, and others are a little bit corny, but a guy in Poland pulled off a proposal this weekend of epic proportions with an intense thriller that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions.
The trailer was so scary the almost-betrothed ended up cowering in her seat and covering her eyes for a few moments; however, the horror movie trailer had a very happy ending when the groom busted into the theater with ring in hand.
