LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The northern part of the Natural State is bracing for another blast of winter weather Thursday, and power and road crews are ready to jump into action.

Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for parts of north Arkansas through Friday morning.

Entergy Arkansas and the Arkansas Highway Department say they're not taking any chances with this storm and already have crews in place if needed.

Sally Graham with Entergy Arkansas says their motto is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

"The weather forecast has changed a bit. It's definitely a moving target. Our crews who were in Alabama will be in Batesville and we have positioned them there, they'll be there today at 3 depending on what the actual outcome is from this weather event they'll be prepared to get the lights back on if necessary."

Highway crews have been asked to arrive late to work Thursday in case they're needed overnight.

The Highway Department has crews in north Arkansas getting plows and sand trucks ready for road treatment.

Danny Straessle, Assistant Public Information Officer for The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, said it will not begin plowing the roads until at least one inch of snow has fallen.

"We're looking at mainly a snow event, a plow event. We're going to do a little bit of pre-treating on the bridges and overpasses, like we do, but not as much as we have in the last couple of winter weather event."

Entergy says additional linemen have their bags packed should they need more crews.
