BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KFSM) -- A former officer convicted of negligent homicide is back in uniform.
KFSM reported that Coleman Brackney is now police chief of Sulphur Springs in Benton County. He served time behind bars after being convicted in the shooting death of James Ahern following a high-speed chase in 2010.
Bella Vista Police fired Brackney, but a state board later ruled he could be an officer again.
"Until you've actually been there and done it and seen what we have to deal with on a daily basis, it's hard to judge somebody," said Brackney.
Ahern's family received $20,000 dollars after suing Brackney. Brackney's charge has been expunged.
