MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (KTHV) - A Mountain Home woman has been arrested on murder charges after police found a body in the trunk of her car.

Baxter County Sheriff John F. Montgomery said that 24-year-old Raul Segura Turrieta's body was found in 25-year-old Christina Maria Scroggin's car around 5:50 Tuesday morning, after the 911 center received a tip that Scroggin may have killed someone.

Turrieta died from three gunshot wounds to his head and chest from a handgun, which may have been a .38 caliber revolver, said investigators. The Sheriff's Office is waiting on the ballistic results to determine whether this is the weapon used.

The two were spotted in Little Rock Monday evening, and a receipt from Little Rock was found in the car, so investigators are using those elements and questioning people in the Little Rock area to put together a timeline for the events leading up to Turrieta's death.

Montgomery said Scroggin has been charged with first-degree murder and taken to the Baxter County jail where she is being held in lieu of $1 million bond. She will appear in Circuit Court on April 4.

He added Turrieta was a resident of Mountain Home. His body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for autopsy to determine the cause of death.

A motive in the killing has yet to be released.
