TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say one person has died in a house fire in Texarkana.

Fire Marshal Stephen Johnson says the fire was reported early Thursday in the College Hill neighborhood. Johnson says firefighters arrived to heavy flames and discovered the body of Jonathon Michael Studebaker about 3 feet inside the front door.

Johnson tells the Texarkana Gazette that the house was a small, wooden structure of about 700 square feet. He says Studebaker had been staying in the building as part of an agreement with the owner and had been making repairs to the house.

Studebaker's body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy. The fire remains under investigation, but authorities do not suspect foul play.
