SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Sebastian County Humane Society will soon be looking for homes for 65 dogs that were brought in earlier this week.
5NEWS reported that two vans full of Golden Doodles and Schnauzers were rescued from a puppy mill. JoAnn Barton with the humane society said they started getting complaints about the dog operation about a year ago, and since then, the owner had become unable to care for the dogs.
A local group, called Pet Smart Charitable Foundation, stepped up to $20,000 worth of supplies and help make this rescue possible.
Barton said puppy mills are a growing problem statewide, and she thinks Arkansas needs better state laws to deal with the problem.
Tuesday, humane society members were busy unloading a semi load of kennels, food and supplies from the foundation.
