CONWAY, Ark. (HENDRIX) - Six softball players from Hendrix College were named to the All-Southern Athletic Association Teams on Monday. Senior pitcher/infielder Ashley Halbert was a first team selection, senior outfielder Sydney Copeland, junior second baseman Catelyn Gibbs and freshman first baseman Shelby Anderson were second team selections and junior outfielder Tiffany Hubbard and sophomore shortstop Michaela Larabee were honorable mentions.
Halbert, from Crandall, Texas, earned her third consecutive first team selection - two previous in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference - as a utility player. Offensively, she ranked fourth in the SAA with a .480 on-base percentage, sixth with 13 doubles and eighth with a .404 average. She also had 24 runs, 42 hits, two home runs and 23 runs batted in. In the circle, Halbert was third in the league with 70 strikeouts, fifth with 10 wins and eighth with a 3.35 earned run average.
Copleand, of Little Rock, Ark., was sixth in the SAA with three triples. She also batted .305 with 29 runs scored, 36 hits, six doubles, 19 RB I and five stolen bases.
Gibbs, from Sachse, Texas, is a second team honoree for the second straight year. She hit .325 with 22 runs scored, 31 hits, six doubles, 16 RBI and six steals.
Anderson, of Olive Branch, Miss., led the Warriors with 31 runs scored and 24 drive in. She also hit .342 with 38 hits and 10 doubles.
Hubbard, from Oppelo, Ark., led Hendrix with three home runs to go with a .301 average, 29 runs, 37 hits, six doubles and six stolen bases.
Larabee, of Farmington, Ark., led the Warriors with 46 hits and seven stolen bases, while hitting .331 with 27 runs scored and 19 RBI.
