CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) -- University of Central Arkansas senior golfer Julia Roth will continue her collegiate golf career in the NCAA Division I Central Regional next week.
Roth, the Southland Conference Player of the Year, will compete in the Central Regional as an individual. The tournament will be played May 9-11 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., with the University of Oklahoma as the host school.
Roth, from Karlskrona, Sweden, was the first golfer in SLC history to be a four-time SLC Golfer of the Month. Roth won twice, at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational and at the HBU Husky Classic. She led the conference with a 74.00 stroke average over 29 rounds and finished in the Top 10 in all 10 tournaments in which she competed.
Roth is a three-time All-SLC selection and joined former UCA golfer Nicole Forshner as the only UCA players to earn first-team all-conference honors twice. She is the third UCA golfer to be named Player of the Year, along with Forshner (2008, 2009) and Rebecca Sorensen (2010).
Roth will compete with five other individuals and 24 full squads in the Central Regional. A field of 126 players will advance to the NCAA Championships, with eight teams and two individuals advancing from each of the three regionals. The championship will be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
