LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Crews are still working to dig out debris after a fire destroyed the First Baptist Church at Highland Park in Little Rock. As crane operators pull out parts of the charred building, investigators hope to use the pieces as clues to figure out how the fire started.

Wade Rasberry with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms said bringing in a crane for such an operation isn't uncommon.

"For safety reasons, you've got a lot of super structure and large items. It's a little bit hazardous to maneuver and walk around as well as damage any possible evidence," he explained.

Rasberry added that the investigation is still early, and they still don't know where the fire originated. With rain on the way, it might delay their efforts, but Rasberry said it won't stop them. They'll get back out when the storms pass.

The structural damage to the church is estimated at $1.1 million.
