LONE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An 18-year-old who disappeared in the Ozark National Forest in northern Arkansas has been found and rescued.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said Saturday that Jay Greer of Lone Rock was found about 7 p.m. Friday - but that it took nearly 8 hours to bring him out of the forest. Montgomery says rescuers had to carry Greer about one mile across steep and rugged terrain that's heavily wooded and that it was wet and cold during the rescue.
Montgomery says Greer was cold, wet and hungry but otherwise appeared uninjured. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Greer - who the sheriff said is autistic - was reported missing Friday morning by his father and his vehicle was found abandoned later in the day.
