LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Just in time for Riverfest, the summer, and the concert season! The amphitheater in Riverfront Park in Downtown Little Rock was formally dedicated and renamed Friday.
The stage will now be known as the First Security Amphitheater. The bank invested significantly in the concert structure in time for its 25th anniversary this year. The structure - especially the roof - was in need of extensive repairs.
According to the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Gretchen Hall, the old roof was putting a drag on concert business.
"We lost several shows at the end of last season because of losing that roof, and we've been working for numerous years to actually create a permanent structure on this premier outdoor venue, and it's so exciting that that has finally come to fruition today," she said.
In addition to the amphitheater getting a new name, the stage itself has been named in honor of Riverfest. That festival kicks off next week, and you can find more information on it here: http://on.kthv.com/12hMozv
