MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Maumelle community came together Friday night to fight cancer.
Organizers held a Relay for Life event at the Maumelle Soccer Complex with a "Hula for Hope" theme. More than 300 participants with 32 teams helped bring awareness to more Arkansas about cancer.
Joshua Clausen is the chair and said in addition to walking, there are other efforts to raise money.
"We've got a silent auction going on. We've got activities going on like music and games, contests and all sorts of things going on for the entire 18 hour event," said Clausen.
So far, they've raised $30,000 dollars and hope to raise much more.
This is the seventh year for the event in Maumelle. All money benefits the American Cancer Society.
