LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The suspect in a shooting at Verizon Arena tried to escape from police Thursday as he was released from the hospital.
According to Sgt. Brian Dedrick, Christian Jackson, 20, of Little Rock, was released from the hospital and was being taken to the jail when he escaped police custody. Dedrick said Jackson was recaptures only 50 yards away, and police had top pepper spray him to get him to yield.
Jackon has been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Capital Murder after a woman was shot outside of the arena after graduation practice. After the shooting, police said Jackson turned the gun on himself.
Both Jackson and the woman were only injured during the shooting.
