FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The 2013 season extends into the summer months with this week's USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

In addition to former standouts, three members of the Razorbacks' 2013 team-Caleb Cross, Andrew Irwin, Ken LeGassey-will compete among the nation's best. The national meet will serve as a qualifying event for the 2013 IAAF World Championships.

Cross will be competing in the 400-meter hurdles with first-round heats scheduled for Thursday at 4:10 p.m. (CT). The Newport, Ark., native just completed his senior season at Arkansas where he was the SEC champion in the 400-meter hurdles for the second consecutive season. In March at the NCAA Indoor Championships, he ran the third leg of the Razorbacks' 4x400-meter relay team that set the collegiate record of 3:03.50. Cross owns a personal best of 50.14 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Irwin will be competing in the pole vault which will be contested Friday, beginning at 5:15 p.m. During his sophomore season at Arkansas, he won his second-consecutive NCAA indoor title and was a two-time SEC champion. The Mount Ida, Ark., has already secured the 'A' standard for the World Championships with his clearance of 5.70m/18-8.25 at the national indoor meet in March. The top three in each event will advance to the August meet in Moscow. Irwin has a lifetime best of 5.72m/18-9.25.

LeGassey will be competing in the high jump at the junior (ages 18-19) level. That event will be contested Friday, beginning at 6:20 p.m. The Woodlands, Texas, native drew a redshirt during the 2013 season, his first season in Fayetteville. Top finishers at the USA Junior Championships will travel to Medellin, Colombia (Aug. 23-25) for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships.

The 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will receive 50 hours of webcast coverage and nine hours of national television coverage. The meet will have broadcast windows spread among USATF.TV (web), ESPN2, Universal Sports, NBC Sports and NBC. During the live TV broadcasts, the webcast will switch to field event coverage only.
