LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Up, up, and away! The influx of hot air balloons in Little Rock this time of year means one thing: It's time for the second annual Great War Memorial Balloon Race.
"We just really wanted to bring exposure of hot air ballooning to Little Rock," said Mike Wilson, who has flown hot air balloons for 25 years.
"It is a lot of work, but it is a lot more fun," Wilson said about the work that goes into the event. It took four people to inflate and lift a 56,000-cubic-foot balloon. Soon, 25 of these balloons will be scattered across War Memorial Park.
"I think if people come out, they'll really have a good time watching the balloons inflate, fly off, come back and do some tethering and glowing activity right before dusk," Wilson continued.
The fun does not stop there. Event coordinator, Lisa Archer music and lots of food trucks, inflatables, and the splash fountain is going to be there.
