Cirque du Soleil performer dies after 50-foot fall
Tragedy hits during a Cirque du Soleil show. Sarah Guyard, 31, fell during the finale of Saturday's performance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The mother of two died hours later at a hospital. Mesmerized by the elaborate fight sequence in the show, the audience members didn't realize the more than 50-foot fall wasn't part of the act. In a statement, Cirque officials said, "We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night."
Road Rage Orlando: Man Facing Murder Charges In Road Rage Killing
A road rage incident turned deadly on a Florida highway. Fred Turner, Jr., called police Saturday after leaving a Tampa store, saying someone he didn't know had been following him. While on that phone call, someone shot Turner to death. Before he died, he told the authorities he hadn't done anything to provoke the stranger.
Wal-Mart's 'American Idol'-style contest is back
For the second year in a row, Walmart is offering entrepreneurs a big opportunity. The retail giant is repeating its "Get on the Shelf" competition. The contest gives US-based small businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors a shot at getting their products on Walmart's store shelves. They can submit products in any category Walmart currently carries.
Dog near miss Tour de France 2013
Cyclists in the Tour de France must steer around all sorts of obstacles to avoid crashing, and yesterday, it was a dog. The pet got away from its owner during stage two of the Tour de France and ran on to the road behind a small group of cyclists. Then a much bigger group approached the dog, who managed to get out of the way just in time, and disaster was avoided.
