BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - The Pastor of Lighthouse Church in Bryant Pastor Terry Mullenax held a special service Sunday to help victims of domestic violence.

"We have some folks here at the church that have a domestic history," said Mullenax.

The latest numbers show 9,000 people a year file for protective orders in Arkansas.  In a year's time 4,000 women and children are provided shelter.

As a retired law enforcement officer, Mullenax said he has made it his mission to use the church as a gateway to help.

"What we do is we correlate with the surrounding police departments," said Pastor Mullenax.

"What we want to try to do is we want to try to break this pattern," he adds.

Those interested in information and victims of domestic violence can call the Domestic Abuse Hotline at (501) 315-SAFE (7233).
