HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - A 67-year-old man was arrested Friday after he reportedly lured a four-year-old girl away from the church at which she was playing.
According to an incident report from the Hot Springs Police Department, a father told police about 3 p.m. his daughter was missing from the Nazarene Church, located at 220 Silver Street, where the family was working.
Officers began searching the church and surrounding area and noticed a young girl matching the description of the girl who was missing. She was walking in front of 640 East Grand Avenue, being led by an older man, later identified as Robert Gerald Walker. When questioned, Walker told police that he was the girl's grandfather.
Police separated the two for questioning and the girl told police that she didn't know the man walking with her. Police reunited the girl with her parents and took Walker to the police department, where he reportedly became uncooperative and refused to speak with detectives.
Officers continued questioning the girl about the situation. She told them she was playing inside the church with her brothers then decided to go outside and play in the rain. She said she was then approached by the man who told her to "keep a secret," to "come see his daughters running on the mountain," and that he was "taking her home." The man grabbed the girl's hand, which she said made her feel sad. When she told him that she missed her momma, he reportedly told her she didn't need to say that anymore.
Police charged Walker with First Degree False Imprisonment.
