KANSAS CITY, Mo. (USAToday.com) - A vehicle crashed into a c center Tuesday, injuring three children, The Kansas City Star reported.
Approximately 40 children were inside the day care, the Star said. Capt. Tye Grant, a police spokesman, told the website that the conditions of the three children taken to Children's Mercy Hospital were not known. Early reports had said the children were critically injured.
The driver of the silver and black SUV also was taken to a hospital. Apparently the SUV collided with a Cadillac, which was shoved into the building, several media outlets reported.
The accident happened shortly before 1 p.m. CT, (2 p.m. ET) at Christian Academy. According to early reports, two children were trapped under the vehicle.
Video from the scene showed multiple fire trucks on the scene; the car remained in the building.
A silver car and a black SUV hit the front of building, the Star said. A damaged power pole was tilting at a 45-degree angle in front of the building.
Firefighters carried wooden 2-by-4s into the building, the Star said.
