LITTLE ROCK, Ark.(KTHV) - Doctors for Kali Hardig said the 12-year-old girl will move away from the Intensive Care Unit on Friday.
"She's wonderfully interacting with her mother and father and her family," said Dr. Mark Heulitt, Kali's doctor.
Kali contracted parasitic meningitis after swimming at a local water park. Dr. Heulitt said Kali will now start intensive rehabilitation.
"She is doing different things like blowing kisses and giving thumbs up." said Dr. Heulitt.
The doctor said Kali is already helping others. He said a child in another state has recently contracted the same infection.
"There's another case in another state right now at another children's hospital, and they called us, so we're giving recommendations of what we did with Kali," said Dr. Heulitt.
