A contestant from Season 14 of ABC's The Bachelor has died in New Orleans, according to E! News.
Gia Allemand, 29, was hospitalized Monday night at University Hospital in New Orleans, where she was listed in critical condition after what her publicist described as "a serious emergency medical event."
She died Wednesday.
Details about the reason for Allemand's hospitalization and subsequent cause of death have not been released.
The Bachelor alum, a former model, was one of the final three women trying to woo Jake Pavelka during the reality show's 2009 season.
Pavelka tweeted his grief Wednesday, "I had to pull over, I can't stop crying. We have lost an angel."
Although she didn't end up winning Pavelka's heart on the show, Allemand later found love with NBA player Ryan Anderson, who reportedly stayed by her side throughout her medical ordeal and death.
According to a publicist for both Allemand and Anderson, the 29-year-old's mother was also by her side and they are asking for privacy "on behalf of the family."
