DECATUR, GA (CBS) -- The incident sent more than 800 elementary students, teachers and staffers scrambling for safety at the Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decauter, Georgia on Tuesday.
Sources say Michael Brandon Hill, the 19-year-old gunman, entered the school just after noon armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and briefly exited at least twice to fire shots into the air.
During his time in the building, the gunman relayed his messages to emergency dispatchers through bookkeeper Antoinette Tuff on a phone. This clip contains selected bites from the 911 tape released Wednesday. Tuff is being hailed as a hero for helping the gunman give himself up to police.
The clip is not the 911 call in its entirety but selected bites.
