2 officers return to duty following shooting that killed Clifford Jones

    BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - Two Benton Police officers have been cleared to return to full duty following an officer-involved shooting.

    According to Lt. Kevin Russell, the officers were cleared in the July 30 shooting that resulted in the death of Clifford Jones, 29, after the department's Internal Affairs Division and Saline County Prosecutor finished investigating the case.

    Earlier, THV 11 reported the Jones had been killed during a shootout after an 8-minute police chase through the county. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one other than Jones was injured during the chase or the shooting.

    Russell said the names of the officers involved are not being released because they are part of the department's special investigative unit.
