    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - According to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 12-year-old Kali Hardig, who has been battling parasitic meningitis, is to be released Wednesday.

    Kali is the third known person to survive Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis.

    THV 11 has been following her fight against the very rare and usually fatal brain infection since it began several weeks ago. The Benton girl contracted parasitic meningitis after visiting an area water park in July.

    Kali's life had been riding on an experimental drug sent in from the Centers of Disease Control.

    Since contracting the disease, support has poured in from all over the world, especially via social media. A Facebook page dedicated to Kali has more than 23,000 fans.
