PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) -- Go ahead and take the "interim" tag off police chief Jeff Hubanks' title in Pine Bluff.
Mayor Debe Hollingsworth announced Friday that Hubanks is the city's new permanent chief. Hubanks beat out a list of 43 applicants from across the country for the job, and it's his second stint with the department.
He began his career in Pine Bluff in 1985 and retired as a lieutenant. With 10 months already under his belt, he believes the department will keep making progress.
"Crime is down and it will continue to go down," he said.
Hubanks replaced Brenda Davis-Jones. Mayor Hollingsworth fired her shortly after taking the oath of office.
