WICHITA, KS (CNN) -- A surprise military homecoming that was in the planning for months played out in a wichita state university classroom. an airman arrived all the way from Afghanistan to surprise his wife.
Senior Airman Brett Combs, who got home from Afghanistan a week early, wanted to surprise his wife who is a dental hygiene student at Wichita State University. "She's either gonna go in hysterics and run toward me or break down and cry and sit in her seat. I don't know which. I'm guessing the first one," says Senior Airman Combs.
Accompanied by WU Shock, the cover is the celebration of 100 years of dental hygiene as noted by associate dean Steve Arnold. Estefany Tabb was definitely surprised! She says, "I didn't even know what was going on and my friend is like, 'pay attention!' and I'm like, 'Why?' What's going on right now?'"
The couple that has known each other since junior high and married just this past February is now reunited. Combs says, "You always see the cute homecoming videos, she actually mentioned one while I was deployed and yep it's gotta happen now."
Combs is home for two weeks, and this time together is even more special. The newlyweds still live apart. Combs is stationed in New Mexico while his wife finishes her degree in Wichita.
