LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican rival Tom Cotton each raised more than $1 million over the last three months as they prepare for next year's Senate race. But the Democratic senator has far more money in the bank for what's expected to be a heated and expensive matchup.

Pryor on Tuesday reported raising $1.067 million over the past quarter and having $4.4 million on hand as he seeks a third term next year. Cotton, a freshman congressman, reported raising $1.072 million and having $1.8 million in the bank.

Cotton announced in August that he was challenging Pryor, whom Republicans view as the most vulnerable Senate incumbent. They and outside groups have been engaged in an expensive television ad war more than a year before the general election.
