JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) -A growing population of homeless people are living in Jonesboro, so city officials have agreed to create a task force to further study this issue.
Last week, the Jonesboro City Council approved creating a homeless prevention task force. It will consist of 13 people who work directly with the homeless.
They have already laid out a few goals for themselves, but do not have a lot of time to accomplish them.
Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas Executive Director Jamie Collins said out of the six county area the agency serves, the biggest need is in Jonesboro.
"What you see on TV, the little lady pushing the cart isn't what you see in Jonesboro. It's not what you see in Greene County and so each area has their own unique needs," said Collins.
The homelessness task force will meet for the first time next month.
