GREENWOOD, Ark. (KFSM) - A stretch of blood on a local highway has some people on edge tonight in northwest Arkansas.
Authorities believe the estimated twenty mile stretch of blood between Greenwood and Booneville was actually chicken blood that fell out of a semi truck.
It happened late Tuesday night just before midnight, and for people like Jim Philpot who drove through it the sight and stench were unbearable.
"Not anything that you really want to see first thing in the morning or going to lunch- it leaves a bad taste in your mouth," said Philpot.
The 20 mile stretch of blood has been cleaned, but you can still see the residue on the highway.
Authorities said they are looking for the driver now, and he will be cited.
