LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Little Rock Zoo has a new baby penguin.
The zoo said Tuesday that an African penguin named Bugsy hatched on Oct. 24 and is growing strong.
The zoo says Bugsy is the second African penguin chick it's hatched. The first chick, Gilligan, hatched last year and can be seen at the zoo's penguin habitat.
Both Gilligan and Bugsy were hatched at the recommendation of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan for the African penguin.
The Little Rock Zoo says African penguins are native to South Africa and Namibia and are considered an endangered species because of loss of habitat, overfishing and oil spills.
The zoo says Bugsy and her parents, Skipper and Eze, are on exhibit but spend most of their time in their nest box.
