Many people see the stories featured on A Place To Call Home and wonder about the process for adopting in Arkansas.

The Department of Human Services provided the following five steps for adopting a child in the sate.

1: Complete the inquiry for adoption at the Arkansas Department of Human Services website, www.adoptarkansas.org

2: Once you've completed the online inquiry, a resource specialist will contact you and send you a packet of information and background checks that you must fill out completely and send back to the resource specialist.

3: Once your background checks have been returned to the resource specialist and are clear, they will schedule an appointment to visit you in their home.

4: Once the home visit is completed and you meet the criteria to continue the process, you will be referred to attend Adopt Pride classes.

5: Once you successfully complete the training process, a home study will be completed on your home/family and a final walk through of your home will be completed.
