HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV)- Champion Baptist basketball coach Eric Capaci said he's still proud of his team's effort after they lost to Southern University by 104 points on Monday.

"We were pressed the entire game and it really made it tough on us to get the ball down the court but we don't use that as an excuse because we respect the coach's decision," said Capaci, who also serves as the college's president. "We're very thankful for the opportunity that schools give us to play them. We respect that and we obviously try to do our best."

It took nearly 15 minutes for CBC to score and by the time they made it on the board Southern had already score 44 points, setting a new NCAA record. "We couldn't make a bucket. It was sort of frustrating just knowing that we could have played better and done better," said Junior guard Josiah Capaci. Capaci and teammate Tim Gillespie joined their coach in a Facetime interview as they travelled between games Tuesday. "As embarrassing as it was to be on Sportscenter for that reason losing like that it has no bearing on us and our national championship hopes," added Gillespie.

Champion Baptist has had recent success in their league, the Association of Christian Colleges Athletics. Coach Capaci says they're still focused on winning the league title again in 2014. "I'm really proud of these guys for a lot of reasons but this morning I'm proud of them because not one of them is ready to quit," he told THV. "They're ready to move forward and get to the next game."
