NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The life of a fallen officer and his family were honored on Tuesday morning.
The memorial for Jerry C. Davis was held at the North Little Rock police headquarters.
32 years ago today, Davis was killed in the line of duty. He was shot 3 times while responding to a domestic violence disturbance between a girl's parents.
"In my family we had five brothers and he was the youngest one, served in the army, got married, joined the North Little Rock police department," said Davis' brother, Robert Haymes.
"They paid the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of North Little Rock so I ask the community to say a prayer for us because you know we need that sometimes," said Sgt. Brian Dedrick of NLRPD.
Usually all memorials are celebrated in May during National Police Week, but starting today, North Little Rock Police will hold each fallen officer's memorial on the date of their anniversary.
