LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- No matter what the question, no one can stump Dr. T. Glenn Pait with UAMS. He's cracking open up his medical mailbag to answer your questions.
These are the questions he covered:
-I weigh myself on a daily basis, often several times a day. It's driving me crazy because my weight bounces up and down and I'm not sure what my true weight is. When should I actually weigh myself for the most accurate reading of the day.
-I have terrible heartburn. Sometimes medications help and sometimes they don't. I keep putting seeing my doctor about this. I read that people with frequent heartburn may also get cancer. Is it true?
-I turned 21 and had cocktails ordered by my friends. I immediately became stuffed-up, developed a headache and because nauseous. This also occurs sometimes when I drink beer. What do you think is the reason?
-My friends and I are into unusual things. We would like to know what you think about "Bagel Heads". A friend's dad is a doctor but she doesn't want to talk to him about becoming a "Bagel Head". What are the problems you can encounter by becoming a Bagel Head?
-I'm a very active senior citizen. Friends were told by their doctor they should wear sneakers - it's good for them. Are they better for your feet than other shoes, and WHY? I'm a loafer guy myself.
-The women in my book club are very health-conscious. We try to eat the right foods and exercise. A member said eating more protein is better for you and provides overall better physical function. This question is sent from our book club.
-I have to get up in the middle of the night more often to urinate. My sister said it's due to menopause. Are my nighttime bathroom visits due to menopause?
-I usually work very late and usually eat dinner between 8:00 & 9:00 at night. Is there any problem with eating late? I would like to lose some weight.
-For Christmas, my daughter gave me a lamp made of salt blocks. She said this would help my allergies. If it's true, I think I shall buy a salt lamp for my brother who has a lot of allergies.
-My health-minded, athletic son is now eating chia seeds. Is this healthy eating and should I give them a try? I'm a 51 year-old man in good health.
