FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) - The University of Arkansas Athletics Department had 236 student-athletes earn a 3.00 grade point average or higher in the 2013 spring academic semester. The list of student-athletes includes 43 Academic Champions who earned a perfect 4.00 GPA, as well as 135 student-athletes who posted personal-best grade point averages for their career.
Women's track and field led the Academic Champions with 4.00 GPAs with 10 selections, while also pacing the above 3.00 GPAs with 39. Soccer and softball also had multiple Academic Champions with each team producing seven student-athletes posting 4.00 GPAs.
"Congratulations to the more than 230 Razorback student-athletes who earned a spot on the academic honor roll for the spring semester," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "I am proud of the young men and women representing all 19 of our sport programs who have once again proven that student-athletes can succeed both in the classroom and in their respective sports while advancing toward graduation."
This semester's Academic Champions include Kikko Haydar (men's basketball), Charles Henderson (men's basketball), Calli Berna (women's basketball), Jared Collins (football), Bailee Zumwalde (gymnastics), Callie Authier (soccer), Teni Butler (soccer), Ashleigh Ellenwood (soccer), Laura Fitzgerald (soccer), Melanie Foncham (soccer), Lindsey Mayo (soccer), Margaret Power (soccer), Morgan Clark (softball), Jayme Gee (softball), Amanda Geile (softball), Ashley Martindale (softball), Hope McLemore (softball), Danielle Riddle (softball), Kelly Young (softball), Tera Brandham (swimming and diving), Nikki Daniels (swimming and diving), Rebekah Porter (swimming and diving), Hall Fess (men's tennis), Nathanael Franks (men's track and field), Christian Heymsfield (men's track and field), Kevin Lazas (men's track and field), Danielle Calhoun (women's track and field), Rachel Carpino (women's track and field), Kaitlin Flattman (women's track and field), Kirsten Hesseltine (women's track and field), Paige Johnston (women's track and field), Shannon Klenke (women's track and field), Samantha Mohler (women's track and field), Sandi Morris (women's track and field), Kelsey Wheelhouse (women's track and field), Keri Wood (women's track and field) and Kasey Heckelman (volleyball).
The spring semester finished with 83 student-athletes on the Athletic Director's list for grades ranging from 3.50-3.99. Additionally, 110 student-athletes earned a place on the Athletic Department Honor Roll with grades including 3.00 to 3.49. Football set the pace with 29 student-athletes recognized, followed by swimming and diving with 28 student-athletes who were acknowledged for their academic success.
