MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) - The Southern Arkansas University Board of Trustees has voted to prohibit concealed weapons on campus.
The board voted Thursday to accept the recommendations of the faculty senate, staff senate and administration to opt out of a state law passed this year that allows faculty and staff members who have concealed-carry permits to bring their weapons on campus.
Approximately 15 colleges in the state have now opted out of the law - including the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas State University systems.
The colleges that opt out of the law must do so each year, according to the legislation.
