LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - For back to school shopping, Arkansas will have a tax-free weekend coming up for those looking for school supplies and clothing.
Linda Hinton, general manager of the Promenade at Chenal, said the tax-free shopping is only for Saturday and Sunday. It will start Aug. 3 at 12:01 a.m. and last until Aug. 4 at 11:50 p.m.
"Everybody who comes out and shops at the store for teachers and students clothing and what not will receive zero taxes for the weekend, which is great," she said.
State and local sales tax will not be collected during the 48-hour period on clothing and footwear for less than $100 per item, clothing accessories at less than $50 per item, school supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional materials.
Be careful to read the fine print before you go on a shopping spree this weekend. Sales tax is waived only on specific items. There are also limits on how much shoppers can spend on those tax-free items.
