LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor is criticizing Republican rival and U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton for his votes on Social Security and Medicare in a new television ad airing in Arkansas.
Pryor's latest television ad began airing Wednesday. The ad says Cotton voted to cut Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher system.
Pryor's campaign wouldn't say exactly how much it spent on air time to run the 30-second ad, but the campaign said the purchase cost at least $100,000. The campaign also said the ad would run statewide.
Cotton's campaign criticized the ad and said Pryor voted to cut money from Medicare to pay for President Barack Obama's signature health care law.
Pryor is running for re-election against Cotton. Cotton represents south Arkansas' 4th Congressional District.
