    The 'sitting disease': Sitting long hours raises diabetes risk

     LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- When you think of risk factors for diabetes, you may not think of being at work as one. But some doctors are linking sitting at work for hours as a major culprit for diseases.

    One study showed adults who spent more than fours a day, either in front of the TV or at work, had an 80-percent increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

    They say not only is sitting lousy for calorie burning, it has also been shown to suppress the production of an enzyme which is essential for turning bad cholesterol into good. One Mayo Clinic doctor calls it the 'sitting disease'.
