LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - This weekend, two groups are hosting a diabetes walk to help educate and spread the word about the condition.
Diabetes a condition that affects more than 25 million Americans. There is no cure for type 1; that's when the body does not produce insulin. It usually affects children and young adults, but has been known to affect older adults too.
Only 5 percent of people with diabetes have this form of the disease. Type 2 diabetes is far more common and occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin.
The walk takes place June 8 at Two Rivers Bridge in Little Rock. Registration is $20 and you can call Orin Spikes at (501) 216-2764 or Mark McGraw at (501) 960-2405 with the Prince Hall Freemasonry for more information.
Spikes and McGraw, event organizers, joined Stefanie Bryant and Sarah Fortner on THV 11 News at Noon on Tuesday to promote the walk. That information can be found in the THVideo above.
