LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Federal wildlife officials say teal hunters might be able to take six teal in this fall's hunting season.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing a six-teal bag limit for the early teal season because nesting conditions have been excellent in the Prairie Pothole region of the Northern Plains. The commission also cited habitat conservation efforts.
Current limits include a four-teal daily bag and possession of two daily bag limits - or a total of eight teal.
Under the proposed limits, hunters could possess three daily bag limits, or a total of 18.
Arkansas game officials say the new limit will help waterfowl hunters who travel to hunt and want to take their birds home with them.
