    Five School Records Fall at UCA Open

    CONWAY, Ark. _ Despite wet conditions, the University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track teams turned in five school records at this weekend's annual UCA Open at the Bill Stephens Track Complex.

    Edward Limo set a school record in the 5,000 meters on Friday night at Hendrix, running a 14:47.12 to break Amos Gerber's record. Louis Corentin finished third (14:53.92), while Albert Maeder was seventh (15:20.12).

    On the women's side, Brooke Cassar shattered the school record in the 5,000 meters in a time of 17:21.70. The old mark of 18:21.57 was held by Stephanie Simpson. Jordan James came in fourth (18:43.20) and Jill Carson was sixth (18:45.60). Cassar was also third in the 1,500 meters (4:44.10), with Kayla Nehus finishing fourth (4:47.27).

    Jean Black also broke her own record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.81. Her old mark was 1:05.34. Erika Setzler won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a school-record 11:20.48, shattering the mark of Michelle Pitoniak (11:51.50). Jasmine Ellis easily won the javelin with a school-record throw of 38.43 meters.

    For the men, Gerber won the 10,000 meters in a time of 31:43.65 on Friday and Connor Ryan finished sixth (33:10.53). Chance Tanner won the 400 meters in a time of 48.54, while Powell Bryant also broke 50 seconds (49.99) for fourth place. Dustie Smith was fifth and Kelton Ray sixth. Tanner was also second in the 200 meters (22.15).

    Corentin won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:00.09, followed by Limo in second (4:06.04) and Gerber in fourth (4:08.08). Trevor Peacock took the 400 meter hurdles in 53.97. Ryan Davidson was second in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:54.34) and Anthony Faris-King finished second in the triple jump (14.14 meters).

    James Leonard finished third in the 800 meters (1:56.31). UCA's 4x100 relay team was second in 42.15, as was its 4x400 relay team (3:15.95). Daniel Reese was fourth in the high jump (1.73 meters), while Faris-King was sixth in the long jump (6.20 meters). Benjamin Jordan was fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (20.15).

    Baykal Altiner finished second in the hammer (37.90 meters), sixth in the shot put (1.44 meters) and seventh in the discus (31.01 meters). Trey Carter turned in a second-place finish in the javelin (51.29), whle Tanner Tolbert was seventh (45.08).

    For the women, Tanesha Maxwell won the 100 meter title in a time of 12.05, with Tyaniah Cash getting sixth (12.83). Khadijah Smith won the 200 meters in 25.10 with Jasmine Ellis fourth at 25.65. Smith was also fourth in the 400 meters (58.34), while Jasmine Johnson finished fifth (59.37).

    Anilah Bashir was second in the 100 hurdles (14.92), followed by Jean Black in third (15.06) and Nicole Okeke in fifth (15.88). Bashir was third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.62).

    Jordan Chadwick turned in a third-place finish in the 800 meters (2:18.26), while Nehus was seventh (2:24.74) and Courtney Efurd eighth (2:25.19). In the 10,000 meters, Emily Carroll finished fourth in a time of 40:25.32. April Martin finished second in the triple jump (11.23), with Alex Dorch fourth (10.64). Kelvon Greer was fifth in the long jump (4.36). Mallory Muckensturm was fourth in the javelin (33.49) and April Martin was eighth in the shot put (8.98).

    UCA's 4x400 relay team was second (3:53.31) and its 4x100 team was third (49.30).
