OXFORD, Miss. (UCA) -- The University of Central Arkansas women set four school records and the men's squad set a school record and turned in 10 Top 10 finishes last weekend at the Ole Miss Invite track meet.
Freshman Brooke Cassar shattered the school record with a time of 17:04.16 in the 5,000 meters. Junior Erika Setzler easily broke her own record in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 10:52.29. UCA's 4x100 relay team of Tanesha Maxwell, Tyaniah Cash, Anilah Bashir and Megan Snow set a school record of 46.37. Junior Jordan Chadwick was 12th in the 800 meters in a school-record time of 2:16.37.
Senior Jasmine Ellis won the long jump with a leap of 5.68 meters, with freshman Alex Dorch finishing third (5.59). Ellis was also fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.23).
Maxwell was third in the 100 meters (11.91) and 10th in the 200 meters (24.45). Sophomore Khadijah Smith finished seventh in the 400 meters (56.32) and sophomore Jean Black was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:02.82).
Snow finished sixth in the javelin (38.34), while sophomore Nicole Okeke was ninth in the pentathlon (4,220). Junior Kayla Nehus finished 12th in the 1,500 meters (4:43.66) and senior McKinley Rea was eighth in the pole vault (3.25).
On the men's side, senior Daniel Reese easily beat the old school record with 6,381 points in the decathlon to finish fifth, while freshman Ben Jordan was 10th with 5,504 points, which also topped the old mark. Reese won the pole vault portion of the event and was second in the javelin.
Junior Edward Limo finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:46.08) and freshman Corentin Louis turned in a third-place finish in the 1,500 meters (3:53.43). Junior Amoz Gerber was third in the 5,000 meters (15:13.52), junior Trey Carter was sixth in the javelin (56.38) and senior Daniel Reese was eighth in the decathlon (3,226).
Sophomore Chance Tanner finished sixth in the 200 meters (21.34) and fourth in the 400 meters (47.35). Freshman Anthony Faris-King was 10th in the triple jump (13.87) and junior James Leonard was 11th in the 800 meters (1:55.49). UCA's 4x400 relay team finished eighth (3:15.65) and the 4x100 team finished ninth (42.11).
