CONWAY, Ark. (HENDRIX) - Hendrix College junior Elizabeth Krug was named the Southern Athletic Association Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. This is the second week in a row Krug has been honored after earning Track Athlete of the Week last Wednesday.
Krug, from Heber Springs, Ark. recorded the second best score in the NCAAA Division III in the heptathlon with a school record 4,733 points at the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The three-time All-American placed fifth in the event, finishing behind competitors from Missouri and Ole Miss. Krug's highlights from the weekend included breaking her own school record in the high jump with a Southern Athletic Association leading 1.61 meters (5 ft.-3.25 in.). The jump was tied for fourth best on the day. She had the sixth best shot put at 11.15 meters (36 ft.-7 in.), a new personal record. That mark currently ranks third in the SAA.
Krug and the Warriors will compete at home on Saturday at the Hendrix Invitational.
