From Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association:

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - The 2nd annual Sprint Triathlon, TRI-the-Village, is scheduled for Saturday, May 18. This USAT sanctioned event includes a 500-yard swim in Lake Balboa, a 13.5-mile cycle course over rolling terrain and ends with a 3.5-mile run.

"This event is a great opportunity to showcase the Village to folks who haven't had a reason to visit before now," said Katherine Winslow, Volunteer Coordinator for the event. The event is open to resident and non-residents alike.

Registration and management of the event is handled by DLT Event Management, Inc., of Arkadelphia with support from and in benefit of Teen Challenge of Arkansas, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help men 18 and older with life-controlling problems. DLT Event Management, Inc., manages both on-road and off-road events across the state.

Awards for a variety of categories will be given including Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, Grand Masters, Relay Teams, Physically Challenged and more.

Last year's event had approximately 134 entries including several residents and others from five neighboring states. The fastest participant was 21-year-old Alex Goff, a student of University of Arkansas, with at time of 1:02:43.8.

But you don't have to be an athlete to take part. Everyone is invited to Hot Springs Village to cheer on the athletics. It is a gated community and day passes are required for both participants and spectators.
