CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) -- University of Central Arkansas' Caleb McClanahan and Forrestt Allday have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) South-Central All-Region first team.
McClanahan, a senior right-handed pitcher from Wynne, had a 10-6 record this season with a 2.43 earned-run average. He struck out 80 batters and walked just 12 in 122 innings pitched, including 17 starts and 5 complete games. McClanahan was a first-team All-Southland Conference selection.
Allday, a senior right fielder from Friendswood, Texas, led the Bears in hitting (.365) and ranked in the top 5 in the SLC in nearly every offensive category. He was first in runs scored (59), on-base percentage (.503) and walks (53). He was second in hits (85), third in average and total bases (101) and fifth in steals (15).
Allday was an eight-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, UCA's highest draftee since Marquis Riely went in the second round in 1992. He was one of a school-record three Bears taken in the 2013 MLB Draft last week.
The duo of McClahanan and Allday helped the Bears win a school-record 42 games this season, an SLC tournament championship and finish as runnerup in the NCAA Starkville Regional.
