MAGNOLIA, Ark. (SAU) - The Southern Arkansas University Foundation and the Mulerider Club are proud to announce a slate of meet-and-greet opportunities around the state of Arkansas with head football coach Bill Keopple in preparation for the highly-anticipated 2013 football season. Scheduled locations for these meet-and-greets include Camden, Magnolia, and Texarkana with more locations to be announced in the near future.
The first of these meet-and-greet events will take place on Thursday, July 11 in Camden at the Postmasters Grill on West Washington. The Camden event will go from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The dates and times for the Magnolia and Texarkana meet-and-greets will be announced at a later date.
All meet-and-greet events are directed towards Southern Arkansas alumni, friends, athletic boosters, and parents as a pre-season football fan rally to prepare everyone for the 2013 football season. Excitement is at an all-time high as the 2013 Mulerider football team is poised to build off of a tremendous 2012 season in which they went 8-3 (6-2 GAC) and appeared in the Heart of Texas Bowl.
Key offensive returners for the Muleriders in 2013 include senior quarterback Tyler Sykora and senior running back Mark Johnson. Both Johnson and Sykora were All-GAC and All-Super Region Three performers a year ago. Key defensive returners for the Muleriders include a trio of senior linebackers in Sam Cowling, Tate Mustin, and Mark Spaight. The trio combined for 174 total tackles with 18.5 coming for lost yardage.
