BELOEIL, Quebec, Canada (Univ of Ark)- University of Arkansas sophomore Gabriela Lopez finished third at the 2013 Royale Cup Canadian Women's Amateur Championship at the Club de golf Beloeil in Beloeil, Quebec, Friday.
Lopez shot 69-75-71-68=283, eight strokes off the lead and just two back of second place.
In her fourth round, Lopez began the day with a birdie on second hold, a par five, 488-yard hole to get going. The hole was an interesting one for Lopez who birdied it in the first round, doubled in the second and made par in the third before today's birdie.
Lopez fired eight consecutive pars to turn one-under. She climbed back on board the birdie train with a two on the par three, 161-yard 10th hole moving to two-under for the day. Lopez picked up her final birdie of the afternoon on the 16th hole, a hole she also birdied in the first round, finishing her day with a 68.
For the tournament, Lopez played one-under with a negative 0.25 average in relation to par. She made 12 birdies and 49 pars, playing the par threes even and the par fives three-under for the week.
