JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) - Two Arkansas State baseball players have earned all-league honors after competing in the Jayhawk League with the Hays Larks of Hays, Kan., this summer.

Junior left-hander Chandler Hawkins was named the league's Most Outstanding Pitcher, while sophomore pitcher David Owen was named as a first-team selection.

Hawkins finished the season with a 7-2 record and a 2.11 ERA in 11 appearances, nine of which were starts. He tallied 69 strikeouts with 19 walks and just 15 earned runs in 64 innings of work, which was the second most innings of any player on the Larks team.

Owen was the Larks' primarily closer after recording six saves in 22 appearances with a 0.61 ERA and a 2-1 record. He tossed 29.1 innings sigh 29 strikeouts, seven walks and just two earned runs on the year.

The Larks won their second consecutive league title after finishing the season with a 35-13 overall record and a 23-10 mark in league play.

The Red Wolves will open their fall camp Sept. 16 and will welcome back 14 lettermen from a year ago.
