CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) -- The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears had a dominant showing on day two of the UCA/Sears Sugar Bear Classic, taking down Jackson State 3-1 and UT-Pan American 3-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Central Arkansas took down Jackson State (0-5) while hitting .395 for the match. Heather Schnars led the Sugar Bears with 17 kills, while Scout Brooks added 16 kills, six digs, and five aces. Marissa Collins dished out 41 assists and Amy South chipped in 17. Shelbee Berringer turned in a match-high 14 digs.
In their second match of the day, the Sugar Bears hit .427, led by Paige Gantar, who hit .800 while tying for the team lead in kills with nine. Brooks and Schnars also turned in nine kills each. Collins distributed 39 assists and Berringer dug 10 balls.
The tournament will wrap up with four games on tomorrow. UAPB and Jackson State take the court at 10:00 am, followed by UT-Pan American and UL-Monroe at noon. UL-Monroe will face off with Jackson State at 5:00 pm, before Central Arkansas and UT-Pan American finish the Classic at 7:00 pm.
